HFUD was organized in 1960 to provide natural gas from Middleton Tn. to Rossville along Hwy 57. The founding commissioners were Ed Pulliam Sr. B. F. Teague and Wilson Dunn. B.F. Teague was manager until 1980 when the commissioners hired the current manager Donnie Leggett to replace Mr. Teague after retirement. The forming of the Utility was also to bring the Troxel Company to Moscow. Troxel has provided jobs for this community since the 60”s and has been a great asset to this community.
The Utility started with about 300 customers and 40 miles of gas main. Today, the Utility has over 4400 customers and 200 plus miles of gas main. The Utility operates with 8 employees and has done so for the past 20 years. The Utility has 6 employees with over 20 years of service at the Utility and two of them have over 30 years in the utility industry. We are very grateful to the longevity of all our employees and by the way, the two youngest employees have been here over 13 years. The Utility operates under a three person board. We at the Utility are proud to be of service to all the communities which we serve. Thank you for the opportunity of serving you.
