Hardeman-Fayette Utility District

About Us

HFUD was organized in 1960 to provide natural gas from Middleton Tn. to Rossville along Hwy 57. The founding commissioners were Ed Pulliam Sr., B. F. Teague and Wilson Dunn. B.F. Teague was manager until 1980 when the commissioners hired Donnie Leggett to replace Mr. Teague after retirement. When Mr. Leggett retired in 2014, he was replaced as manager by Billy Tomlinson. Mr. Tomlinson served as manager until he retired at the end of 2024 and was replaced by current manager Clay Joyner. The forming of the Utility was also to bring the Troxel Company to Moscow. Troxel has provided jobs for this community since the 60”s and has been a great asset to this community.

The Utility started with about 300 customers and 40 miles of gas main. Today, the Utility has over 5500 customers and 350 plus miles of gas main. The Utility has 12 employees who are here to help you with any questions or concerns that you may have regarding our service. We are very grateful to the longevity of all our employees and their willingness to continuously serve our customers. The Utility operates under a three person board. We at the Utility are proud to be of service to all the communities which we serve. Thank you for the opportunity of serving you.
